How to liven up Monday nights in your pub

When you buy a pub, you are making an investment in bricks and mortar that will hopefully increase in value over time, but you are also investing in a business that requires you to inject time, money, and effort in order to see a healthy return. As a pub owner, you might find that you have no problem drawing in crowds on busier nights of the week such as Friday and Saturday but that you experience dips in trade at other times. Monday nights can be notoriously slow for pub, bar, and restaurant owners because people are back to the daily grind of work and might choose to save their money for weekend nights out instead of going out in the week. So what things can you do on a Monday night to get the punters in?

Launch a student night. Most people might have to work Monday to Friday, but students typically have much more flexible schedules, and there is more chance that they can let loose on a Monday night and sleep in all Tuesday morning. Because of this, why not create a night in your pub that specifically targets a student crowd? You can provide deals on house drinks and perhaps even create competitive drinking games such as Beer Pong to create a lively atmosphere that will be the talk of your nearest university campus.

Create a movie night. If most people don't want to have a night of hard drinking on a Monday night, then try to incorporate something that people really would want to do on a Monday – perhaps something more chilled out like watching a movie. Rent or buy a projector and you could create special Monday night screenings. Alongside your usual drinks, you can sell snacks like popcorn and nachos, which have a healthy profit margin.

Host a book club. Any town or city will have a book club of some description, and these book clubs are always in need of a place where they can host a meeting and chew the fat over the latest releases in the literary calendar. Book club organisers will typically not want to pay for a venue, so why not offer your pub free of charge, with the only stipulation that people who use the venue purchase a drink?

And these are just a few of your options. You could host quiz nights, karaoke nights, poetry readings, open mic nights and more. The only limit to the potential of your pub's Monday nights is the limit of your imagination.
